A Microsoft study carried out in 2000 showed that the attention span of the average human is 8 seconds! I would imagine in this day and age, it's a lot less.

We live such busy lives and are surrounded by so much external noise; it is becoming harder to stand out. As we all have limited time available to capture our target audience’s attention, here are some key tips to consider:

  1. Define your key message:  What is the ONE thing you want your target audience to take away from their interaction with you?
  2. Visual support: Images are more memorable than words alone, consider using infographics or strong photography to help communicate your messages and information
  3. Refine: With your key message worked out, get to the point, do not waffle on. Less is more.
  4. Call to action: Let your customers know what they should do next and how they can contact you for more information

Ever heard of the elevator pitch? Well, it is literally pitching an idea, product, or service to a prospect as clearly and concisely before the elevator (or lift, as we call it in the UK!) reaches the ground floor.
